This blog can be very focused on Clickbank products and this is my personal preference when making money even with Clickbank’s known problems. However, some of my sites from my early days on the internet continue to bring in a few dollars from Google Adsense clicks.

Google Adsense Adverts are everywhere, some of the biggest and most well known sites make the majority of their income from Adsense (and I mean Millions of $$$), these sites work on huge volumes of visitors and the % of those clicking on their ads. Plentyoffish.com the free dating site made something like $300K/month back in 2006!

Anyway, back to the point of this post, the choice between Clickbank and Adsense…

I look at it like this:

A Clickbank sale of $80 will take 80-100 hops to make giving an EPC of about $1

An Adsense click in the same niche may earn about $1

The benefit of Adsense is that you don’t have to make an allowance for refunds, the problem is you cannot encourage people to click on the adverts like you might with a Clickbank hoplink.

So, if you find a good high paying niche consider Adsense as an alternative to Clickbank. It doesn’t harm to diversify your income streams to allow for changes!

I was watching the BBC News this evening and there was a report on people who have either been forced to or chosen to take on a second job/income to beat the recession. Instead of the regular view of second incomes, like bar work, shelf stacking or similar evening activities the report was all about people making money on the internet. The report mentioned a phrase I had never heard of before calling people making a second income after working a day job, FIVE-TO-NINERS. I naturally went and bought www.five-to-nine.co.uk with the intention of creating a separate site to this blog giving a wider range of ideas for those wanting to earn a second living either online or offline.

The second part of the news article referred to a website called peopleperhour.com which is a site putting

“freelancers” in touch with a variety of jobs/projects placed by “employers”. How it works is shown here http://www.peopleperhour.com/howitworks.php

Right now there are

22,297 Freelancers

5,303 Employers

8,114 Projects Posted

The projects range from bookkeeping/accounts to webdesign to translation to marketing, there really are some interesting projects to work on and make an extra bit of money. And quess what folks, there is an affiliate program too! None of the links here are affiliate links though.

Unfortunately my latest account which i have had for about six weeks, since 27th March, has run dry.

Same consistent number of targetted hops, like clockwork, but sales dried up and many of the people on DigitalPoint and Nichechoppers have also been hit this week. Check out the stats for the last three periods.

12th May to 17th May

433 hops, 1 sale = $82

6th May to 11th May

488 hops, 7 sales = $383

30th April to 5th May

484 hops, 6 sales = $368

Overall stats for the last 6 weeks are:

Sales: 45

Refund %: 17.78%

Net Income: $2057.46

Anyway, time to change all the hops again as I believe this account has been blackballed by Clickbank due to the refunds, like previous accounts. Onwards and upwards hopefully.

Firstly, sorry for the lack of posts over the past few weeks. Things have been pretty mad in my offline world. The company I work for announced a redundancy program in late March and my job was at risk. Luckily I was not chosen to be made redundant this time, but two of my close colleagues were made redundant last week.

This wake up call has really made me think about what I am doing, the kind of commitments I have, both financially and emotionally. When you are faced with the possibility of losing a very good steady income you begin to think about what you are spending and what you could do without. It also made me think about the income I make online and how crucial it might be if the worst did happen. It also gave me comfort to know that I would have a way of making money, and in theory could make much more online if I had the time.

In a perverse way I was actually kind of excited about being thrown out of my comfort zone and being forced to make a go of it on my own, both with online efforts and other consultancy options (there are simply no jobs right now). I even bought a great domain name for a company and investigated the possibility of creating a limited company and checked out the cost of things like Professional Indemnity Insurance. Unless forced to or without the guarantee of income, most of us will not leap into the unknown and leave our comfort zones, the commitments we have are so great.

So back to Affiliate Marketing!

In the last three weeks I have switched CB accounts again. The last account had a period of no sales for 5 days and I created a new account, surprise surprise, instant sales! This new account has now made me $1000 in the past 17 days averaging 1 sale per day and $55 per sale.

Today I banked a check for $722 from the previous account so this account switching is definately working for me. As I have said before, I cannot be sure that those sales would not have come if I had kept the hops to the old account, but I am not willing to take the risk.

There has also been a Google update since the last post and that has again brought mixed fortunes, some sites have increased PR such as this blog and some dropped, most have increased in traffic and SERPs which is what is important, would rather be No1 for my chosen keywords than PR5! Both would be nice!

I have also been doing a bit of domaining. I bought a site in December for $25 and sold in March for $35. Now that is not a great profit, but it was due a renewal so would have started to cost me money. I also did nothing with it between buying and selling and it made me no money. It was a product name domain and that product is being offloaded by the owner so I thought it best to get rid. At the end of the day, if you can make 40% profit for doing nothing then lets do it more and more!

I am going to sell off a few other sites which are doing nothing and will start to cost me in renewals, this should raise a few $$ for PPC or to buy other sites.

Finally, I have bought fxter.com which will eventually be a Forex Blog for all things Forex, not just Forex Robots which is what most of my sites are based around. I hope to use this blog to create an opt-in list and be able to jump on big product launches etc much quicker and easier than I do currently. Also we the number of forex related sites, backlinks to this blog should be good for SERPs and traffic.

Hopefully it won’t be as long before my next post.

James

For those that haven’t heard, Joel Comm the creator of iFart and self titled “Social Media Expert” has written about court action he has taken to determine if the phrase “pull my finger” can be trademarked following agressive action by the developers of a similar iPhone application Air-O-Matic who suggest they have.

Joel writes about it on his blog (click here) and even includes the court filings!

Basically, iFart and Pull My Finger are iPhone Applications that can be downloaded to your iPhone so that you can play fart noises! Unbelievably Joel Comm is reported to be making over $10,000 per day and this brilliant publicity will only increase that. It really amazes me how much can be made on the internet from some very simple things. When you have access to a worldwide customer base you can literally print your own dollars!

I am currently testing a new approach to article marketing by creating my own specialist article directories. The first of these is Email Direct Marketing which I created following purchase of 150,000 PLR articles from Digital Point Forums for just $4!

I was skipping through the thousands of articles and came across a whole file dedicated to email marketing containing 190 PLR articles. I then used my tried and tested URL search using a combination of Adwords Keyword Tool and the godaddy bulk domain tool to quickly find a popular three word domain name with little competition. 3000 searches a month on Google and 800k results. I also know it is something that I can promote CB products with and get good CPC from Adsense.

I purchased the .info name after finding out that the .com and most of the other TLDs are up for sale. This cost me $0.99 for a year! So far my investment is $4.99.

The next step was getting hold of a wordpress based article directory theme for free. Luckily someone at nichechoppers had just posted about one which they were using and it looked pretty cool, if a little limited graphics wise. http://articlesss.com/article-directory-wordpress-theme/

Download the theme and the essential plugins, throw it up on your site and you have an instant article directory that anyone can submit articles to. IT is very easy to configure to exactly how you want it with basic wordpress knowledge.

Finally I have uploaded 40 articles at the time of this post, OK it is PLR but it already has a few hits and with more and more content (I hope to get to about 150) it should rank for quite a few keywords.
I have just put Adsense up for the minute as I am looking to diversify my earnings, it will also help if I decide to move the site on in the future, lots more people use Adsense than CB.

As I said early on I started making money online via eBay selling ebooks, but I was very much small scale. If you’ve ever read an article about eBay, you will have seen the kinds of incomes people make – it isn’t unusual to hear of people making thousands of dollars per month on eBay.

Next time you’re on eBay, take a look at how many PowerSellers there are: you’ll find quite a few. Now consider that every single one of one of them must be making at least $1,000 per month, as that’s eBay’s requirement for becoming a PowerSeller. Silver PowerSellers make at least $3,000 each month, while Gold PowerSellers make more than $10,000, and the Platinum level is $25,000. The top ranking is Titanium PowerSeller, and to qualify you must make at least $150,000 in sales every month!

The fact that these people exist gives you come idea of the income possibilities here. Most of them never set out to even set up a business on eBay – they simply started selling a few things, and then kept going. There are plenty of people whose full-time job is selling things on eBay, and some of them have been doing it for years now. Can you imagine that? Once they’ve bought the stock, everything else is pretty much pure profit for these people – they don’t need to pay for any business premises, staff, or anything else. There are multi-million pound businesses making less in actual profit than eBay PowerSellers do.

Even if you don’t want to quit your job and really go for it, you can still use eBay to make a significant second income. You can pack up orders during the week and take them down to the post office for delivery each Saturday. There are few other things you could be doing with your spare time that have anywhere near that kind of earning potential.

What’s more, eBay doesn’t care who you are, where you live, or what you look like: some PowerSellers are very old, or very young. Some live out in the middle of nowhere where selling on eBay is one of the few alternatives to farming or being very poor. eBay tears down the barriers to earning that the real world constantly puts up. There’s no job interview and no commuting involved – if you can post things, you can do it.

Put it this way: if you know where to get something reasonably cheaply that you could sell, then you can sell it on eBay – and since you can always get discounts for bulk at wholesale, that’s not exactly difficult. Buy a job lot of something in-demand cheaply, sell it on eBay, and you’re making money already, with no set-up costs.

If you want to dip your toe in the water before you commit to actually buying anything, then you can just sell things that you’ve got lying around in the house. Search through that cupboard of stuff you never use, and you’ll probably find you’ve got a few hundred dollars’ worth of stuff lying around in there! This is the power of eBay: there is always someone who wants what you’re selling, whatever it might be, and since they’ve come looking for you, you don’t even need to do anything to get them to buy it.

It really is a low start up opportunity, give it a try. P.S. I have over 1400 positive feedback now!

Establishing your own E-commerce site is not like what it used to be. There are thousands of competition that is all too willing to get a bigger share of the pie. Every scheme and method you can find to augment your sales would be very beneficial.

We have got to admit to ourselves. Most of us are into it for the money. We are not going to waste our time and effort just for the fun of it. Many sites would not wait until hell freezes over just to see their profits. While there are some who takes things lightly there are always those who would rather see profit any given day.

It is common knowledge that without traffic we have no business. Like any business, without any customers you don’t get sales. Traffic represents all the people that gets a chance to see what you have to offer. The more people who see your products the more people there would be to buy them.

Nobody puts up an E-commerce site that doesn’t expect profit. We have a startup capital that needs to be regained. With a consistent traffic, we at least have a fighting chance to achieve that probability. Monetizing your traffic would optimize your chances of making the best out of it.

Making Money out of your Traffic

The best and most proven method of making a profit out of your traffic is using advertising. The internet generates hundreds of thousands upon hundred of thousands of traffic everyday. Most of them are searching for something. While some are just looking for information there is also a good percentage that is looking for something that they need.

The internet has proven to be a very reliable source in finding what was deemed to be a very unsearchable product. The internet has made the world a smaller place; you can advertise a product from the depths of Istanbul and still find a buyer from the center of Philadelphia.

Generating traffic is not an easy task. You have to contend with a great number of sites to generate a good number of traffic flow. But if done successfully this could open up a Pandora’s Box of possibilities. One of the benefits is monetizing your traffic flow.

So, to get to the core of it the more traffic you generate the more likely you are considered as a desirable, desirable, in a sense that a good traffic flowing site is easily convertible to profit. Basically traffic equals profit. Advertising is the name of the game; with the good advertising scheme you can use your traffic flow to your advantage.

When you have good traffic you have a good number of potential customers, customers that are willing to pour money into your coffers. Other than that these are also traffic that can be redirected to sponsored links that are willing to pay you for a sizeable portion of the traffic that you have generated.

This scheme is called “pay-per-click”. With every click a visitor of your site makes on an advertised link you will be paid. The more traffic you generate and the more clicks that happens would spell to more profits.

Affiliate Programs

Another method of monetizing your traffic are affiliate programs. You can link up with other tried and tested sites and online companies and monetize your traffic by having a percentage of sales generated by traffic coming from your site.

The basic idea is, traffic generated from your site will go to another site that can offer a product that you do not carry. Many programs can keep track and make records of transactions that was made possible because of site linkage.

When purchases are made by customers that was led by your site to their site you get a percentage of that sale. Affiliate programs would give you the benefit of monetizing your traffic without the actual need of carrying or promoting a certain product.

There are so many ways and methods to monetize your traffic. All it takes is a bit of hard work and the desire to successfully launch a profit-earning site. The internet is a veritable source of information, many tips and guides are offered everywhere in how to monetize your traffic and make your site a good profit earner.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year Holiday. I have been off work for a total of 11 days, have travelled over 1000 miles in total, visited so many friends and family members and even had a minor car crash in between!

I had intended to dedicate a couple of days to developing my new membership site which will be my first venture into the Publisher world, but on the way back from my local Mall, some idiot rear-ended me. It took almost a full day to sort out a hire car, insurance and garage etc and in the end I didn’t get anything done.

In the run up to Christmas I had made some good consistent sales with Clickbank which was great, but from Boxing Day to 2nd January I had no sales, everyone was partying or on vacation, certainly not buying electronic products online!

So onto my goals for 2009.

1) Consistency from Clickbank Sales – at least $1500/month after refunds

2) Complete and launch new Membership Site on Clickbank

3) Revive my Everloss and Efficient Planet campaigns

4) Continue to diversify with CB products I promote to avoid fluctuations

5) Sell off some of my sites that I do not have time or passion for

6) Try to make a regular additional income flipping sites building on success in 2008

7) More regular posting on this blog with more tips and tricks

Build a number of subscriber lists to promote future products to

9) Continue to be an active member of Nichechoppers Forum

10) Do all of this while keeping my well paid day job and hopefully getting a promotion!

Anyone else set some Affiliate Marketing Goals for 2009? Post them in the comments.
